Walking Newtonmore provides excellent walking
for all levels and abilities. At least 11 of the locally published walks walks can be taken directly from the Steading,
from low level walks to strenuous hill walks.
The Wildcat Trail is a 6 mile (10km) long sign posted path around
the outskirts of the village, giving you a great introduction to the area, from the River Spey to the hills beyond the village.
Newtonmore Community website has details of the local walks avaiable amongst many other worthwhile activities to undertake whilst holidaying in
the village.

Newtonmore Golf Club is in the heart of the village, and runs along side the magnificent
River Spey. Visitors are very welcome.

There are numerous Mountain biking routes and the excellent Wolftrax facility is just a few miles away
in Laggan. Mountain bikes can be hired at Wolftrax and also in Aviemore.
Watersports are available at Loch Insh (Kincraig) and also at Loch Morlich, near Aviemore. Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing lessons and activity days
are available and rowing boats can be hired.

The Newtonmore Riding Centre is visible from Steading 5 and offers pony days and riding holidays, half and full day pony treking, riding lessons
and has access to 2500 acres of open land. A
multitude of guided outdoor activities including a fantastic tour of the estate by landrover are available on the Advereikie
Estate near Laggan. Highland Activities operates from the Advereikie Estate which is a 15 minutes drive from the Steading.

Fishing on the River Spey (with a locally
available permit), swimming, playing tennis, watching shinty matches and
bowling are also available in Newtonmore. Skiing (in season) is available in the Cairngorms
where a range of runs exist for the beginner to the expert. Details of mountain climbing and hill walking
in the vicinity of the village can be found on the Newtonmore community website.
There is also the opportunity to watch
the most successful Shinty team in Scotland during the season, which runs from March to October. The pitch is just beyond
the Steading.
